What to expect during your assessment

Dr Siobhán Seward-Swann/ your clinician shall be asking a range of questions to understand your family history, strengths and challenges, social skills, sensory differences, special interests and information related to childhood related learning.

A short 5–10-minute break in the assessment is offered halfway, however you will be offered opportunities to take a break at any point to use the bathroom or if you need a drink etc.

During the final hour in the diagnostic interview Dr Siobhán Seward-Swann/your clinician shall provide you with a series of assessment forms to complete. You can complete these either online or on paper at home following your appointment.

As part of a diagnostic assessment a clinician often speaks with either another professional involved with your care (such as a prior or current treating psychologist) or a close friend, partner, or family member of your choice, who you feel could confidently give their perspective on your strengths and challenges, social skills and any other information that could help with your diagnosis.

Once all the assessment forms are completed, these will need to be scanned and emailed back, and a 1 hour feedback session shall be scheduled to discuss the results and recommendations.

The feedback session is usually scheduled two to three weeks following the diagnostic interview assessment session, however in some cases it might take longer if further information is required.
